A contract must be concluded before support can begin, and a research protocol is required for the contract. Since reaching an agreement on the contract may take time, it is difficult to provide a specific timeline. However, please note that it generally takes at least several months.

支援開始前に契約締結を行いますが、契約締結には研究実施計画書が必要となります。契約書の合意などで時間を要する場合もございますので一概にはお答えできませんが、少なくとも数か月は時間を要します。

If support is approved, how will the research funding be paid?

支援が決定した場合、研究費はどのように支払われますか？

Our company will enter into a contract with the facility to which the researcher belongs or with a research organization with legal status, and pay the research funding accordingly. Payment will be made by milestone payments or on a pay-for-performance basis, depending on the progress of the research. After the research is completed or discontinued, you will be asked to submit a statement of research expenditures.

Research funding may not be used for purposes other than the contracted research. After the research is completed or discontinued, please submit a statement of research expenditures and return any surplus funds.

契約した研究以外の目的に研究費を使用いただくことはできません。研究が終了、または中止後、研究費等支出明細書を提出いただき、余剰の研究費があれば、返金をお願いします。

What expenses are recognized as necessary for the research?

研究に必要な資金とは、どこまで認められるのでしょうか？

Expenses necessary to complete the investigator-initiated research, such as supplies, travel, personnel costs, and other expenses (e.g., meeting costs), are recognized. However, personnel costs for the principal investigator and researchers who will be listed as authors of the paper cannot be supported. Can research funding be used to purchase equipment?

Research funding cannot be used for the purchase of equipment that would become fixed assets. However, rental costs for equipment necessary for the research can be included.

固定資産となるような機器購入の費用に研究費を使用いただくことはできません。ただし、研究に必要な機器のレンタル費用は計上可能です。

What is meant by regular progress reports for the research?

定期的な研究の「進捗報告」とはどのような事ですか？

You are required to report the progress of the research regularly and to report milestone achievements as they occur. There is no fixed format for progress reports; email reports are acceptable. The timing of reports will, in principle, be specified in the contract.

研究の進捗について、定期的に報告いただくとともに、マイルストン達成時にはその旨を報告いただきます。進捗報告では、決まった書式はなく、メール等による報告でも構いません。報告時期については、原則、契約書の中に記載します。
